The objective of the Contest is to widely confront creative design solutions and to select the project of the highest aesthetic, functional and operating values and to designate the author (author team) to be contracted by the Client to prepare the building permit design and engineering design of the prospective venture as well as to perform author’s supervision of design implementation.
The subject of the Contest is preparation of a urban and architectonic concept design of John Paul II Centre ‘Do not fear’ premises at the site of so called ‘White Seas’ in Krakow (post-exploitation site of former Krakow Soda Plant ‘Solvay’). The functional application programme is consisted of: The House of John Paul II (museum, institute, chapel, conference centre, catering outlets and administration), Retreat Centre, hotel facilities (hotel, hostel, camping), open-space amphitheatre, outdoor Way of the Cross, a foofbridge etc.
The organizers anticipates monetary awards as follows: three equal prizes of 80.000 PLN and seven varied distinction awards, with the total amount of 150.000 PLN.
The Contest Terms and Conditions can be obtained directly from John Paul II Centre in Krakow. A copy may be ordered by mail, fax or e-mail. The fee for the Contest Terms and Conditions is 200 PLN (two hundred Polish Zlotys) or 50 EURO (fifty Euro).
The Contestant may participate in the Contest only after collecting Contest Terms and after signing a declaration on holding valid licences to design within architectonic field and on membership of proper Chamber of Architects.
Due date for submitting the Contest Projects is on October 4th, 2007.
